Henna 101

Have you always wanted to learn how to do henna for yourself and friends? Here’s your chance to learn this beautiful, ancient art form! This class is a great intro that covers the basics of doing henna: the science, how to mix henna, history and traditions, basic design elements, application, sealing and aftercare. Each participant will receive: an instruction packet, a jacquard style applicator, "dead" practice henna paste, fresh henna powder and essential oils to mix your own paste at home, and freshly mixed henna to play with.

Class Fees are payable by cash or check at time of class. No credit card payment accepted. Make checks payable to Tamara Brown. Advance reservations required 48 hours prior to class.

Henna Design Elements Series

A three class series based on regional styles of Henna – Indian, Arabic and African – and the design elements associated with each one. Students will learn how to make traditional designs, piece by piece, in this hands-on class. Recommended pre-requisite, Henna 101 class

Indian Henna Design Elements

Duplicate the look of Indian textiles with intricate paisleys, flowers and more. Learn how to create complex patterns by simply repeating basic shapes.

Arabic Henna Design Elements

Become skilled at drawing the bold floral shapes, flowing designs and shading associated with Arabic Henna patterns

African Henna Design Elements

Discover how to drape henna to make the perfect straight lines and geometric shapes for African or Moroccan style Henna designs.

Classes require a 4 person minimum, one-on-one instruction is also available.
